Hospital Compliance

Environmental Compliance Assistance
Hazardous Building Material Survey

Problem Nature and Extent

Hospitals face a variety of regulations from various regulatory authorities including the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), as well as environmental agencies including the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

  • The NHDES Waste Management Division targeted New Hampshire’s acute-care hospitals for hazardous waste compliance inspections. Aries assisted several New Hampshire hospitals with proactive compliance assistance including preparation of hospital-specific Hazardous Waste Management Plans, conducting unannounced hazardous waste audits, and providing recommendations to achieve compliance.
  • Aries has conducted hazardous building material surveys to assess for the presence of asbestos-containing material (ACM), prepared Asbestos Operation and Maintenance Plans, conducted multi-media environmental compliance audits (MECAs) and provided recommendations to achieve compliance, prepared Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, completed Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) reporting, prepared Water Management Plans for Legionella, and assisted with air emission testing and reporting requirements.
